Hagi - 萩

I spent eight days in Hagi. I wanted to take my time and return to some of the same locations more than once, sometimes several times as the weather changed. It is also a transition in my work, where I looked more deliberately for images that reflect my own way of seeing. Japan has always fascinated me, but as much as I try to understand it, I know I am always an outsider looking in. Sometimes the veil is more transparent, and at others more opaque. This is the beginning of an emerging, longer-term project on Japan.
